WinGMAT: A structured approach to learning and commanding GMAT math

WinGMAT has specifically designed a multi-stage, online GMAT math preparation program to improve your GMAT math score. You start by taking a diagnostic GMAT test to help you and we identify your strengths and weaknesses in math. We then offer you an individualized course program, tailor made for you.

After discovering your current skills profile, we’ll get you started with our intensive, video GMAT math lessons. Along the way, we provide you with typical GMAT example questions and GMAT tips and tricks that’ll help save you valuable time on the real GMAT math test. At the end of each GMAT lesson, you’ll get to practice what you learned by solving a set of scientifically researched GMAT math problems, to which we provide detailed solutions.

WinGMAT’s teaching philosophy: As close as it gets to the real GMAT

To be prepared for the test, you need to know the pattern of the GMAT math section. If you have not taken the GMAT test before, click on the sample video link in the menu on top of this page to view a typical GMAT math problem presented on video. Then, simply click on the link entitled model test. You’ll get a document (pdf format) with questions whose format and style are similar to the actual GMAT test.

You’ll be able to see that the sample GMAT math test contains the arithmetic, algebra, geometry, and word problems typical of the real GMAT exam.

If you feel overwhelmed by the seeming difficulty and complexity of GMAT math questions, the problem is most likely your approach, and not your ability to solve them. We’ll teach you how to translate complicated problem phrasing into simple math equations, more efficiently and in less time than any book or overcrowded class can.

There are two types of questions in the GMAT math section: They involve either problem solving or data sufficiency. About one-third of all questions consist of data sufficiency questions. Below you’ll find examples for both problem solving and data sufficiency questions.

Example : Problem Solving
If 5 men can paint one building in 6 days. How many men are required to paint 2 buildings in 4 days?

(a) 24
(b) 20
(c) 15
(d) 10
(e) 5

Example : Data sufficiency
After a certain percent of discount the price of cell phone becomes $40. What was the amount of discount in dollars?

1. The percent discount was 25%
2. Due to the discount the sale of cell phone increased by 25%

(a) Statement 1alone is sufficient, but 2 alone is not
(b) Statement 2 alone is sufficient, but 1 alone is not
(c) Both statements together are sufficient
(d) Neither statement is sufficient
(e) Both statements together are not sufficient.
